1930's "Genuine Radio Tone Hawaiian Guitar"

  • "3/4 scale" sized model

  • plywood body

  • shape is similar to a Weissenborn

  • round sound-hole with painted-on multi-ply
        purfling

  • painted-on binding on top, neck and headstock

  • light brown top finsh with darker back and
        sides

  • paper fretboard with printed wood-grain, frets
        and inlays

  • wooden bridge painted black with wire saddle

  • wooden nut painted black

  • no pickguard

  • stamped metal tailpiece

  • piano pin tuners

  • the inside label has a Hawaiian trio playing
        around an old radio microphone

  • the price on the label is $35

  • except for the printing on the paper fretboard,
        this guitar appears identical to the student
        model produced by Hawaiian Teachers of
        Hollywood, California (see Noe & Most's book
        "Chris J.Knutsen - From Harp Guitars to the
        New Hawaiian Family", page 176)
