WHAT'S NEW gives you the low down on the latest things happening at Kokomo Music.  Whether it's forthcoming CD's; new corner articles; new CD's, new guitar accessories in the Store, or just some random thoughts, this page will keep you up to date.

KOKOMO STORE features the sale of CDs, guitars & guitar accessories fulfilling the KOKOMO MUSIC philosophy.  Each CD is a delight and will uplift your spirits.  This is GREAT music!  But hearing is believing.  Listen for yourself. Cuts from each CD can be sampled in the Kokomo Store.  More music will be added as it flows from the creative pipeline.

FEATURED ARTIST is an article on one of the musicians in the KOKOMO MUSIC family.  Over time we hope to cover all of the artists.  As new articles appear the prior articles will be available in the Archives.

FEATURED GUITAR presents an in-depth look at a vintage guitar from the Session Guitars or the Kokomo Collection.  Periodically a different vintage instrument will be exhibited.  These will vary from rare Hawaiian Koa lap guitars of the 1910s and '20s to "contemporary" jazz boxes of the '60s and '70s.  In between are grand acoustic archtops of the '30s and '40s; upbeat and varied resonators of the '20s and '30s; artistic lapsteels of the '30s; '40s and '50s; a fabulous array of archtop electrics from the 'late '30s through the '70s; and a few solidbodies put in for good measure.  In addition, vintage amps will may be highlighted with the featured guitar.  As new articles appear the prior articles will be available in the Archives.

SESSION GUITARS, a number of which are displayed here, have been assembled to ensure that the appropriate original sound can be recreated in a modern recording environment by using vintage instruments, and sometimes vintage amplifiers.  Our goal is to present music as it actually sounded in the club, theater, or studio while being performed live.  Digital remakes of 78 RPM records can only recreate the limited sound of the original recording, and cannot recreate the original sound as performed live.  The subtleties, dynamics, fullness, impact and emotions of the wonderful original music is restored by applying modern recording techniques to contemporary new performances of the music and instruments of yesteryear.  These guitars are all top of the line session guitars, "players, not lookers"!

LOOKER GUITARS, is an assemblage of very cool vintage guitars collected over the years.  These are not players, but were just too nifty to pass up.   It is doubtful any of them will be used in a recording session, but they certainly may show up adorning an album cover.

GUEST GUITARS displays great guitars used by Kokomo Music artists which are not in the stable of Kokomo Music guitars.   They each have a uniqueness that makes them worthy of display and discussion.

LUTHIERS discusses the development of new guitars that capture the vintage sound we seek in the instruments in our vintage collections.  There are some amazing people out there producing some really cool instruments!

KOKOMO CORNER is a periodic commentary on vintage music by a member of the KOKOMO MUSIC family.  These articles will cover music development, vintage instruments, favorite musical composers and artists, and a myriad of other subjects we're sure you'll find interesting.  As new articles appear the past ones will be available in the Archives.
